  • Colin Carlin was brought up in Abercorn, Northern Rhodesia (now Mbala, Zambia). His father John, who had been a journalist and newspaper editor, established a printing business, Lake Press Limited, and started the Abercornucopia, a monthly newspaper devoted to news from the community, in 1962. Colin was educated in Africa and worked in business in the newly independent Zambia until 1973 when he returned to the UK. He has built up a collection of material relating to the history of Abercorn, and runs the website www.abercornucopia.com.
