This collection includes films, photographs and paintings. The 40 films mainly show colonial domestic and military life in India in the 1930s, and are taken by Colonel John Hamilton Bernard Peyton who was in the army. His daughter May married Walter Dalrymple in 1932, who became mill manager for the Vishnu and Lakshmi Cotton Mills in Sholapur, and the photographs in the collection came from the Dalrymples. There are several albums and loose photographs mainly showing family and friends from 1920s-1980s. There are also paintings showing scenes in India, possibly by one of the Dalrymples.
