The rainy season is very nearly over and the sun is becoming very hot in the morning now although the afternoons and evenings are still quite cool. Rawdon was ill last week with a chill in his liver and lost a good deal of weight, but is fine now. They have been unable to do much hunting as the jungle is too thick. The grass in some places is 20ft high and hard to work one's way through. The soil is very good for planting and they have grown lettuces, peas and radishes. General [Chamer?] is going on 8 months leave so the regiment will be inspected by someone else instead. Rawdon is looking forward to a little house and a quiet life after his service is finished. His doctor is currently in Manipur with a bad leg so the regiment is without a medical man. He asks how Phil is doing in Buenos Aires.
