These are photographs taken and collected by Mr and Mrs Verdin when they lived in Nigeria. The collection includes a photograph album and over 200 loose photographs. There are some duplicate images. They cover all aspects of the palm oil trade, and also include many local scenes around Lagos, Badagry and other places in Nigeria, landscapes, group and individual portraits.

Mr and Mrs Verdin lived in Nigeria. Mr Verdin managed the African Oil Nuts company at Badagry during the 1920s. This company traded in palm nuts and also in palm oil products eg soap. Miller Brothers, a Liverpool-based company run by Mr and Mrs Baxendale was sited next to the African Oil Nuts buildings.
