This volume contains the minutes of the Standing & Finance Committee of the British Legion (Kenya) from the years 1949 - 1959.
This committee oversaw and audited income and expenditure for the organisation, so the volume contains numerous balance sheets. These relate particularly to fundraising events and memorial ceremonies, but also include staff salaries and wages, office furniture, upkeep of properties and managing publicity. In 1953 it is renamed the General Purposes & Finance Committee.
The ledger also contains papers relating to the Kenya Executive Committee Finance Committee (1954).
Of particular interest are details regarding the garden party for the visit of Princess Margaret (1956) and details on the administration of a hostel for Asian ex-servicemen.
