This film shows the Northern Rhodesian police at work and play, and includes a trip to Tanganyika (Tanzania), the visit by Lord Louis Mountbatten, and Senior Superintendent Espey's own retirement parades.
Joseph Stuart Espey, born in South Africa, joined the South African Police in 1933 and later served with the Northern Rhodesia Police. For a period in the 1940s he worked for the civil service as a public prosecutor, then returned to the Northern Rhodesia Police until his retirement in 1962. From starting as a mounted trooper in the police, he rose to become Senior Superintendent.
