This album contains images from an unidentified man's time in Hong Kong in the years before WW1. Although it was purchased by Mr Husband and its provenance is unknown, it nevertheless provides an interesting snapshot into life in the territory, containing images of domestic interiors, house staff, social occasions and scenes of everyday life both in Hong Kong and mainland China. Some of the images are purchased prints, especially the street scenes. Of particular interest is a photograph of an early aeroplane at Sha Tin airfield. Towards the end of the album are a small number of family pictures, presumed taken in the UK.
1 hardbacked volume with 60 cardboard pages, 15 of which have photographs attached to them. The majority are accompanied by manuscript captions. The spine of the volume has come completely off and the back cover is therefore also detached.
