This collection consists of 2 photograph albums with handwritten captions, showing mainly tourist sights from India and Ceylon (Sri Lanka) dating from 1887-88. These may have been acquired as part of a tour of those countries.

These volumes were probably created or acquired by Richard Milne-Redhead (1828-1900). Milne-Redhead was a botanist who travelled widely, collecting plants and seeds. He established a fine garden at Holden Clough near Clitheroe, and specialised in Bryophytes and Spermatophytes. He became a Fellow of the Linnean Society.
