Information from family: Victor was a ground photographer for the first flight over Everest, see book “First Flight over Everest Expedition” in 1933. Details of this expedition are also in the Aerospace Bristol museum. The Rolls Royce Heritage Museum has a copy of the BBC programme about this expedition. A programme about an air display that Victor produced, is held at Aerospace Bristol museum.
Victor Veevers was born in Bombay in 1885. He trained at Thomason College of Civil Engineering in Roorke, India, which qualified him for employment as a general photographer and photo-mechanical operator in 1904. He became a poster artist for the Indian State Railway using his photography as the basis for poster design. He also worked as a camera operator on the 'Secrets of India' series of short films in the 1930s, including 'Bikaner'. He is credited on the 'Wings over Everest' film of 1934 which records the Houston Mount Everest flight and where he had the role of ground photographer. He returned to England and spent his time copying paintings from the National Gallery and working on a couple of short films in the 1940s. Victor Veevers died in 1968.
